I Smiled Today

I smiled today,
It felt good,
An energy inside me was released.

A key to unlock my sadness,
While the pain escaped,
Deep inside of me.

A sense of loneliness lingered,
But swept away.

A closed door,
Had shut out the joy,
And held the sadness.

My face glowed,
And fingers tingled.

Because I smiled today.
