Lost Soul's Destiny

by Twisted Heart   Oct 21, 2006

Inside the heart there lies a shadow
A memory of our heart's desire
Upon the mist of dreams we saw
The flames of a somber fire.

The inkling of a distant thought
That was captured and held inside
A hostage to the love we felt
Was our refuge, our place to hide.

Into the storm of love's surrender
When there upon the brink of pain
Taking our heart as it crumbles
And sifts among the tear-salt grains.

Were not the pieces left too tender
To ease the heart and soul in kind
Or was it left there to remember
A thought to us in troubled times.

To grasp at ropes that now bind us
To the one, who's soul we feed
Caught in the web of life's unkindness
Must now become our destiny.

I loved this one. It kept me guessing, and I like when a poem can do that. You used very good descriptions and it kept me wanting to read more. Not many can write a love poem, but you, my Dear, can do so well. Keep it up.
