Gone Is the Past

by TwistedNightmare   Oct 21, 2006

Gone is the past,
No more reminiscing.
Gone is the past,
For it was so discouraging.

Life is a given,
It takes people like us,
To pity those to be forgiven,
For our foundation is built on trust.

Live to the fullest,
Some people shall tell you this.
Lives are never the happiest,
Nightmares of things you never miss.

Death is now upon,
Voices scream in the darkness,
They plague you so much that they break you,
And now comes your darkness.

Love is a mere dream,
You feel it every night in your sleep,
It hurts so much it makes you scream,
Sometimes it even makes you weep.

Broken by your dreams,
You bleed into the night.
Secrets are your reasons,
The blood, a beautiful sight.

Pain is all you know,
Though, for a moment it was not true.
Sometimes you don't want it to show,
The anguish inside of you.

Forgotten are all days,
Are the childhood memories.
You fall to your knees and pray,
But the prayer box must be at full capacity.

Woven are the lies,
Stringing together,
And it's showing in your eyes.
The lie of forever,
Has you holding back your cries.

Gone is the past,
No more reminiscing.
Gone is the past,
For it was so discouraging.

Great poem, I especially liked this stanza:

    Love is a mere dream,
You feel it every night in your sleep,
It hurts so much it makes you scream,
Sometimes it even makes you weep.

but I think if you remove the word 'even' it would improve the flow a lot. Great poem! 5/5.
