She was his world

by Chelsey   Oct 23, 2006

Born and a raised in an affectionate family
Their love was never unknown
Laughs rang from every wall in the house
Smiles arose on every person’s cheekbone

She became a daddy’s girl fast
He gave her everything she ever asked for
Gave her 20 presents on Christmas
In sporting events he let her score

She’s stayed up late to watch movies with him
She’d run to him when she was scared
She’d have seven friends over at once
Her daddy never cared

When he and mommy started arguing
She’d hide under her bed
Come out with tears all over her face
And her cheeks a rosy red

He was not allowed to drink in the house
Converted into Christians now
She wanted to start going to church
And drinking is something the Bible doesn’t allow

But there were times when he would sneak it
It took two bottles to get him drunk
And one night he went too very far
He pulled his daughter off the top bunk

She laughed and thought it was a game
Until he pulled her pants down
“Daddy what the hell are you doing?
This is not how we play around!”

When she tried to kick and bite him
It made steam come out his ears
He grabbed a pocket knife out
This brought the girl to endless tears

Abused and beaten that one night
While the mother was gone
She would not speak of what he done to her
Her mom would leave if she knew what went on

“This is something that happens to someone else,
I thought I was his little girl”
She used to be everything he lived for
She used to be his world

Now she never looked at him the same
Even when he tried to apologize
And even when that girl isn’t crying
You’ll always see tears in her eyes

*just a scary dream I dreamt*

What a horrible nightmare to have Chels, gave your bigga titta goosebumps all over. You know already how passionate I am about child abuse and angry it makes, even reading poems like yours brings me to a reality where children in our world suffer such abuse everyday - it makes me sick. Great poem however baby. Thank goodness its only a dream!!!
