We all have a fear, each person to their own,
Something that you keep hidden, never wanting it shown,
Fear can be a haunting memory, a sharp pain in your back,
On sight fear can throw you off balance, making you lose track.
Most share the fear of death, never wanting to come to the day,
Wanting to live forever, wanting to stay alive in every possible way.
Your fear resembles a shadow, dark and always around,
Following you everywhere making you look towards the ground,
Can you face your fear, without the slightest turn away?
Do you think you'll make it through, will you continue on past each day?
My fear is water, the thought of slowly drowning echoes through my head,
I can never face deep waters, forever imagining my body washed up dead,
My fear is heights, the thought of falling collapses my mind,
I can never face high heights, my vision gets blurry and for an instance I am blind.
My fear is the pain of loss; I can't take the criticism of defeat,
It harasses me forever, dragging along wrapped around my feet.
My greatest fear is you, a history I can never erase or make it fade away,
I can't look you in the eye to know regret I must live with everyday.
Some say fears make you stronger, but I disagree,
Fears are a weakness, which brings you down constantly.
For a fear is a sign of caution, a sign of you being afraid,
Strength is courageous, something easily dealt with and made.
To overcome fear, has the same outcome as to try and cheat death,
You won’t make it very far; you will choke between every breath.
Will you attempt this now? Will you face your fears?
Or will it you continue hiding behind your pain, behind your tears?
You must realize fear is only an image, brought up into thought,
You create your fear, something you've never been taught.
You control your life, not your fears,
Listen to no family member not even your peers,
Do not fade away because of the fear within,
Accept your fear, it has no penalties and it’s no sin.
Fear is your greatest weakness and has the greatest power,
But don't let it run your life and make you the shadow.
