Faith

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 25, 2006

Faith is the cross that we must bear
Belief in the sacrifice we must share
A virtue that comes through grace
A vision beyond this limited place

Theologically it is faith in divine good
Through the Holy Spirit it is understood
Truth cannot deceive, nor can it be deceived
In God's infinite mercy we are relieved

Without faith we may become depraved
Harden not your hearts in order to be saved
The help we need not only comes from above
But with the acceptance of redeeming divine love

Hi Michael, good follow up! It's relaxing and to a degree, cathartic. I like how you stayed within the parameters you set for Hope. It gives the poems a connection they deserve.

The only thing I would change is in the last line.

The help we need not only comes from above
It is the acceptance of redeeming divine love

But with the acceptance of redeeming....

I think that would make the poem feel more final.

It is with interest that this piece is certainly more linear and less diverse than Hope. But then that is totally understandable when you consider the universal ideal of hope and the more defined spectrum of faith.

Now, my only question is one that depends on bible version. Will the next title be Charity or Love?
