Mask

by XSugarSexSuicideX   Oct 26, 2006

Here I am, with two different souls,
Two different parts of me,
Only one appears and shows,
The other's longing to break free.
One person I am,
When I'm with my friends,
At school, or in my home,
I smile, I sigh,
Sometimes I die,
But they never really know.
They see me walking through the halls,
I'm always crazy, always not all there,
But when trouble rears its ugly head,
I'm the one who'll always care.
But they haven't seen me really,
Haven't seen my other form,
Because what I am, what I truly am,
Is hardly ever the norm.
Because my other side is something,
Something only a few can see,
Only the people who'll remove my mask,
Only the people who do believe.
I could up with a smile on my face,
But they would know if something was wrong,
I could end up with a laugh in my eye,
But they would know that I'd want to cry.
Because this group of people,
Are people just like me,
People who know and understand,
Who care so happily.
When I'm with them,
I can be myself
And not hide the way I feel.
When I'm with them,
There's no need for my mask.
I cast it aside,
My eyes glistening with pride.
Because I trust myself, and I trust them,
And so, I'm not afraid
I laugh and play, and sometimes say,
Well, now my path is laid.
In a heart full of love,
There's no space for hate of fear,
It crashes against a barrier,
And then it disappears.
Because though I'm someone special,
When through their eyes, they read my part,
My true self is a greater soul,
Whose true friends see me with their hearts.

My true self is a greater soul,
