Dresses swish to and fro
Polite smiles exchanged
Hands are sometimes held
Hugs even, can be seen
But the masks are always
Always on, never do they leave
Not for even a brief second
Not for you, and not for me
We all look at each other
When we have the time
But never do we see
What is on the inside
Everyone these days
Is so concerned with looks
Never should you cry
Or show what's inside
That's what we've been taught
Whether it was meant or not
Everyone smiles outside
While their thoughts
Stay so neatly concealed
So when you look at someone
Look, into their eyes
Faces can be trained
To show nothing of inside
But, hun, the eyes don't lie.
