How am i supposed to choose

How am I supposed to choose?
How do I choose between what's right and my hearts wish?
Do I let love pass by because he is the kind of man who'll make my life difficult?
Do I turn down an opportunity which might mean forever love and happiness? Just because two lovers happen to be on different sides in a meaningless war
Can my heart take the pain of seeing you walking away? Can I risk it? Do I want to risk it? Why couldn't we just be together and forget the one little thing we don't agree on?
Because we don't have a problem with it, it's everyone else who'll make a big deal about it. My side will see me as a traitor, and leave me outside and his side will probably want to see us both dead.
But isn't that a small price to pay for a little time of love, passion and happiness, when the option means no love at all, and a life in sadness and darkness.
