Whispers

by Lindsay   Oct 28, 2006

"I swear on this kiss I will never hurt you"
A vow she would take to the grave
He kissed her on the forehead
To him, her heart she gave

Monday came, tuesday passed
A year and the months a few
He held true to his promise
Never being led askew

Winters came and summers went
he tried to hold the bond
She looked at him with adoring eyes
He looked at her and yawned

She knew the act was over
"to the grave" she said
I guess I'm not special enough
He'll realize it when I'm dead

So deep in the night she made a plan
When all the shadows sneak
She tied a noose so tight that night
Whispered his name and kicked the chair from beneath her feet

Body limp now, the rope pulled tight
her soul could fly away
A ghastly secret on her lips
If only they knew what she would say

He heard the next day at school
He cried a million heart-broken tears
Asking why he doubted their love
And exposed all his fears

That night as he lay in his bed
The thoughts came pushing through
" I loved her", "what have i done"
He whispered "I still love you"

Out in the dark night somewhere
A voice rang clear and true
The voice of a ghost girl
She whispered"I still love you too"
