The Blue In My Eyes

by Dee   Oct 29, 2006

As I wake each morning
And stare at the cracks under my eyes
I can identify each and every memory
The ones that maKe me happy and the ones that maKe me cry

Checking my look in the mirror
And seeing reminants of my past
I look back on years of happiness and question why it did not last

I see crows feet for all my laughter
and a few lines of despair
I apply the makeup but the lines are all still waiting there

Just like your memories
That are still fresh in my heart
Even though we have moved on
We are never far apart

Every line I look at
And every inch of me on display
Serves as a symbol of the love that we felt yesterday

A love that you have forgotten
Is a love that I relive
And when I try to love again
I realize I have nothing left to give

I know I was the one to walk away
And you never treated me unkind
But I never knew what I was missing because you were never far behind

Every footprint I made along the way
still has a little piece of you
Your influence and your memory somehow still sees me through

I will dream of you forever
I regret the day I said goodbye
Letting go of you is the reason the blue stays in my eyes.

That was a really great poem. For those of us who end our relationships then finally see how much they really ment to us, we feel like you put it in this poem. I am sorry for your loss. I hope your love sees you and remembers the past then comes back to you very fast.
