It Didn't Affect Me Until Then

by Raychil   Oct 29, 2006

It didn't affect me until then,
This war was just going on
I couldn't see it, I tried to ignore it
From every night, to every dawn

Yes, I care about the people
But there's nothing I could do
And it wasn't until I heard from my dad
The horrible, uneventful news

I knew my uncle was in the army
But I thought he was still in Ukraine
Still over there, far from Iraq
In a place more decent and sane

He crossed the ocean's without a word
In a plane, flying high
But now I pray for him every night
Oh how I pray he won't die

God, please give him protection
People, please spare a second or two
Be you a Christian or something different
I don't care how you pray, just as long as you do

It didn't affect me until then,
I didn't truly care
But now the terror will never stop
As long as my uncle there.
