Childhood

Life
A journey
A short stay on the planet earth
Filled with Moments and Memories
Moments I anticipate for years
But take for granted as they happen
And as they pass me by
I try to grasp the miracle of life
But it slips through my fingers like a bar of soap
Childhood was snatched away so quickly
Innocence drips away
We stayed out 'till midnight chasing each other in parks
Playing soccer and frisbee in fields.
We didn't care about cuts or bruises on our legs;
We were proud of them.
There was no such thing as staring at the idiot box for more than 5 minutes
Definitely no such thing as playing mindless video games that would brainwash us.
Walking to and from school was customary in our daily lives
Everyone looked apple pie.
The streets that were once full of kids are now barren...
What has become of our fun and games?
Watching television
Shopping in malls
Obsessing over outward appearance
Will life ever be the same?
