Only Time Will Tell

Waiting like a child to get off the bus
Wondering what's in store for the two of us

Are these emotions fleeting, like the wind?
If given more time, will we surpass just friends?

I tell myself to calm down, learn to take it slow,
Let this, whatever it is, take us where it goes

Forcing it will do no good, it would all be lies
And I want honesty when I look into your eyes

So patiently I take my foot off of the gas
Time will only tell if what we have will pass

I pray that it will bring us even closer
But waiting could just tell us it's all over

Though it's never started, it may never be
