My Mothers tears

Outdoor school, luggage weighing a ton,
as I was getting ready for a week of fun
my mothers pain begins, and hurt fills within
As tear rolled down her chin

My first crush came way too soon
and her heart sings a sad tune
As I told my first lie and started to sin
A tear rolled down my mothers chin

When my first boyfriend broke my heart
my mother senses we are falling apart
As I kept to myself and the distance begin
Another tear rolls down her chin

When I went off to college to mark my stand
She was there helping, holding my hand
For I was a women taking off
and she holding in tear filled coughs

As the distance grew our love stayed strong
and I knew nothing I do could ever be wrong
with the visits shorten and sad good byes
Tears again filled in her eyes

On the stage with my diploma
I know she was down there
so proud of me on this day
The tears fell and threatened to stay

A diploma means a job many miles away
proud but sad, I can not stay
with heavy hearts yet another good bye
I see more tears fall from her eyes

I found a man who stole my heart
and wishes for our family to start
As he asks her for my hand
she cried and cried with tears of pride

The distance of my move will be great
and hearing the news she could barely stand straight
She tried to stay happy, but hurt within
and more tears rolled down her chin

The choices I make she'll always support
Happiness, sadness, how do we sort
It's hard to leave, but I must go
I'll be back with much to show

Her tears so precious, always fallen for me
But all that I do, she can beam with pride
Cause the world will look and it will see
That I love my mother as much as she loves me

I'll see to it that the only tears that shed
Are tears of laughter not tears of dread
I'll make sure her life is full of rest
