Then Again

by Peter Williams   Oct 31, 2006

For the longest time love was blind,
It still is.
But for all I care,
It should stay that way.
No challenge,
No reward.
The odds are always against me,
Always against us,
But that's the way we like it.
Let's set a realistic goal and make sure we don't break it.
Let's wait for our song to play,
The DJ will remember our faces,
He'll remember what it was like to be young.

So dance with me and let me hear you smile,
I hope that this feeling lasts for a little while.
Take the break off and hit the gas,
It's time to forget the past.
Did you notice the way I looked at you?
I didn't,
I couldn't,
My eyes fall in love faster than my heart,
I can't trust them.

I used to be late to class just to catch a glimpse of you walking through the door,
Too many restless nights,
Too many sleepless days,
Those were the times.
I had fun with the fact that you'd never be mine.
I was miserable,
But that's how I liked it.

Life is a movie with no ending,
Please let it go on and on.
I moved my lips to the words,
But they didn't come out.
The thought of you makes me feel alive.
I hope this song never stops,
Maybe I should've made a move,
I just didn't know which one to make.

Where did those stories come from?
The ones about you and me,
Except they were about "her" and "him".
That song was about us,
So was the movie.
Am I going crazy?
I shouldn't,
I wouldn't,
I just don't know.
The concert is in my head and you are in my heart.

I wrote this long before I saw you,
I still don't know you.
You are my ghost,
Always there,
But never.
The apple of my eye,
The old ball and chain,
You're out there somewhere,
Just hurry up,
I've been waiting,
But then again...
That's how we like it.
