The Beginning for Us

~* This is yet another poem for the love of my life that I'm not with anymore. Man this brings back memories lol. This is a sort of poem on how we met and how our relationship started. *~

The day started off confusing
I didn't want to go
But I decided I should get out
Even though my boyfriend had told me no

I called up my friend
To ask her where to meet
I never anticipated
That is was you that day I'd greet

I didn't know you at first
But we was soon introduced
You kept checking me out
Like grocery store produce

I thought you was attractive
But I knew it would be wrong
You see I had a boyfriend
But it didn't take you long

You kept asking me out
And I was really confused
At first I told you no
But I decided I had to chose

I thought I liked my boyfriend
But that night you proved me wrong
We ended up kissing
And the kiss made my heart sing a song

The next day was the very worst
I felt so bad
I had to tell my boyfriend
And this made me really sad

I hadn't made my decision yet
But I knew my boyfriend would be furious
So I told him that I kissed you
And I left your name out and he got curious

He called me back
And said he wanted to work it out
But I had my mind made up
I had no doubts

Now all this time later
I sit here with you
I know my choice was right
My love for you has increasingly grew

I love you so much
And I'll never regret
That very extraordinary Mardi Gras
The day that we met

You're the best thing
That's ever happened to me
You make me happy
We're meant to be

I want to be with you
Forever and ever
Always together
Like two birds and a feather

I want to one day
Be you beloved wife
I want to marry you
And live a life without strife

I know we will make it
Because on that Mardi Gras day
I saw something in you
I just didn't know what to say

But once my decision was made
All the pain finished, taken away
I knew what I really wanted was you
And now, later on, I am able to say
