Cupid Of Shadowy Hearts

by Cooper   Nov 2, 2006

Oh Valentina,
a mistress heart-break
and her sister Serpentina.
Which hours are these,
upon shadows a name you seize,
And bless unto me
The patron saint of heartache

Growing colder,
is my stone crow shoulder
your sickened humor weighs heavily upon.
To dement the days,
and twist thy unspoken name,
Into a lovers' twenty-four phase,
The patron saint of heartless blame.

Are you Cupid,
the winged archer of Love,
or merely a demon deemed so stupid?
You took my Lady,
sent her to Hades,
And let carrions pick at my heart,
split by lavender midnight claws.

Was there ever,
deep truth in her eye,
and not just a venomed arrow in her thigh?
And my soul has belief,
I am as a broken tree to a leaf;
To have loved, and because of bows,
wind float Valentines are lost.
Eyes closed tight and fingers crossed,
As the demon heartache digests whimpering shadows.

I really liked this one! Although I've read poems with this subject before, your poem had something that made it original in my view - I think it's the way you describe things, not sure, but I like it =)
