Belle's Final Words An addition to "Crashing Waves"

by Poetvoices   Nov 4, 2006

From the high, rocky shore, my love,
I felt the wind to my skin,
and I wondered why your days with me
had to run so thin.

In the aftermath of the hoped for, honey,
I can hardly breathe.
I'm left completely alone--
alone to try to seethe.

Up above the roar, my one true love,
I must try to stand
even though, this time, I shan't be guided
by your loving hand.

This is what we swore, baby,
to hold each other to the end
and to protect each other, but now
there's nothing for me to defend.

Now, I hope to restore my heart, darling,
by joining yours beyond the grave
as I fall forward into the water
to meet the crashing wave.
