If you would have listened

by mimzy   Nov 6, 2006

I've wasted yet another tear
Father, why weren't you here?

You could have heard me cry
Or have been there holding me tight
Unless I wasn't worth enough for you to try

We've both been hurt, all along
Once again, I'm struggling to hang on
Unaware of how I'm needing a father's embrace
Letting go, trying to erase
Diary pages, left blank

Hate me, daddy, I know you do
Always wanted me to be like you
Vaguely remember me begging you to stay?
Eager now to see you walk away

Listen to me, daddy. I'm needing you, please
I'm almost begging you, down on my knees
Still you seem to enjoy seeing me in pain
Throw me a rope, I'm going insane
Enter my skin, Oh, holy knife
No longer do I want to live this life
Even though I'm slipping away to death
Daddy won't hear.. Daddy doesn't care

Thank you for commenting on my poem I really appreciated it. This poem is really good, I read a few of the others you wrote and alot of them are about your dad, they are very sad but you put the words together very well. My daughter is only seven her dad and I have been broken up for two months but she has all this anger towards him since he left and it hurts me and my children are just trying to get past things day at a time. Again though great poem!
