For my Grandad

by girlontheedge   Nov 6, 2006

As your body lies before us
Encased within the wood,
And your spirit all around us
With the memories we have.
For you will never fade for us;
The family who loved you
Nor your life be ever forgotten
Though your body turns to ash.

We return you to the earth you loved
The county's greenest field's
The sparkling lake's reflection
On a hazy summer morning
To the soil of France and Germany
Where once your feet passed through
And the dust of friends already passed
Who are waiting now for you.

* I wrote this for my grandad's funeral,so I hope people understand what Im trying to say in it. Let me know if it sounds right.
