Remembrance Day

by alyssa   Nov 7, 2006

The spirits dwell within this field,
A terrain of poppies red,
For freedom was bought that day,
Past and present seemed to wed.

It beams upon many names;
Men who stood strong and right.
Fighting boldly; they saved
Our country from this fight.

A chance to live at peace with all,
A chance to end all strife,
Ambition and goal it was
Offering a new life.

They bravely marched a pathway,
Each soldier took his course,
Although they met once again
Here on this widened field of force.

Well take up the quarrel,
The torch well hold up high
On November the eleventh
Well remember those who died.

Names etched in stone of grey
Each monument spaced by row.
Bodies buried underground,
Under a thin layer of November snow.
