Triangles and Squares

by Chris Rodriguez   Nov 7, 2006

Well the years have grown shorter
And promises I made, unclear though unforgotten
Have left me with some reassurance that
Things will get better
I'm in the back of your life
And the tides rising up
But if I'm really in the back of your mind
Why do you try so hard to ignore me?

She draws in triangles and squares
Thinking the difference is there
But it's not
Never gave it a second thought

I remember that day on your front porch
There was so much I had to say
And time was slipping out
Back into yesterday
Hold out your hand
I said to you I needed you to
Hold out your hand
Close your eyes and say goodbye again

She draws in triangles and squares
Thinking the difference is there
But it's not
Never gave it a second thought
Carry on the hopeless romantics
And the bleeding artists
You were everything I ever wanted

Now I'm slipping through
Back into the airwaves
And life has been the same
But somethings not right inside
Ever since I told you to trust what
You can't feel
It seemed clear through the static
But to you I wasn't real

You draw in triangles and squares
And I've been so unaware
My life has to start now
Wished you drew a picture
Of you as the triangle and me as the square
