A deadly influence....

by broken reflection   Nov 8, 2006

Pulled in by glamour,
The fame becomes addictive,
The beauty seductive,
This world of propriety and grammar...
The world I wish so much,
To become a part of,
The stars I want to touch,
I want the world's love...
To reach my goals I have to do what the models do,
I must diet so that I twist and fold,
A size two I'll fit into,
My photos will be sold!
No food but once a day,
Exercise in my sleep,
"Fat" I'll slay
"Calories" I'll reap...
All for fame,
All for beauty,
All for you my fans,
All for me!
Soon my body will be as beautiful as my idols...
The world's models!
My face may need work,
But beauty is pain,
And it is beauty I want to gain,
Fame is my aim and soon will be MY perk!
I will be good enough,
I'll be the one and only,
The new Marilyn Monroe or Angelina Jolie......

I will be more than I,
Even if it kills me!

******************
I made this poem to stress the fact that many young girls are putting themselves through so much to look like supermodels, actresses, idols etc. and society demands that you must be pretty and you must be thin to be important!.....

Saw an anorexic girl at the airport. Looked like she was out of a concentration camp. More than a well structured and thought provocing poem.

I love what your poem stands for and I think that it was something that needed to be written. Keep up the good work; keep your eyes toward the stars. *5/5*

That was so beautiful! Girls don't realize how big of a problem that self-conciousness and wanting to look "beautiful" is. Who defines what "beauty" is anyway. Excellent! 5/5
