Smile Child

Another gray morning another blue day
You look to the sky to find a way

To feel as you did so long ago
When you smiled at life and time moved slow

Safe in that world with happiness abound
Your feet never seemed to touch the ground

Then your right of passage led you astray
To the island you find yourself today

Was it a shifting wind that brought on the change?
Or something deep within that makes you feel strange

If your burdens and woes have made you delirious
Just look back on those days when you took nothing serious

What's done is done so why despair?
Don't let anything become a cross that you bear

Revive your young heart and all demons will subside
Then you'll rediscover the beautiful child inside

Your smile will come back and once more you will find
