Burnt And Bitter, Love Is A Fire

by CaffeineBomb   Nov 11, 2006

With that one thought running through your mind
And your head moves too fast to shake it out
It just goes round and round
Like they invented the wheel as a means of torture

The heat shimmers as it rises from the land
Your hope fades the more vultures circle
Did you think that you'd forget?
Is it cruel to say you should know better?

Go back
To the place where you got cursed
Burn it down
But it didn't really work, now did it?
Your vultures are mere visions
And you're in an urban desert
And you've started a fire that you can't put out

And you feel it crawling, biting at your hand
It's stopping every single move you make
Its scars won't ever heal
Can't forget the lessons that you wish they'd never taught you

Too late
And now things can get no worse
Turn around
Run while your legs still hurt goddamnit!
Life makes your decisions, makes sure
You'll never forget him or her
And in you there's now a fire that you can't put out

Time can't turn back
And you keep a love heart in your pocket forever
And you can say to yourself, what I'll say to you
"Look at what we used to be, watch the way
We used to make each other laugh so comfortably
And we can watch everything of ourselves fade
The bitter, sorry messes that we made
The laughes that echo, so hollow, those memories
And now we're both to blame - you won't let me forget that"

And I won't let you forget when the good times weren't just stories.
