Incompatible

How different is too different in someone else's eyes
How do you decide if you can live by compromise

When is the breaking point of giving too much
Changing who you are to meet someone else's love

How do you know when you've lost who you are
Given everything you have but you've given too far

You face the mirror but don't know the reflection
She's a stranger in your house seeking affection

She loves a man who is so different from herself
But she can't put his story back upon the shelf

They both are beautiful people inside and out
But together they don't fit, better off without

So he takes her hand and tells her a soft goodbye
She whispers, "I love you, but away I must fly."

Like a fish and a bird, we could simply never be
One flies in the air, the other swims in the sea
