Diffrent

by Rachel   Nov 11, 2006

You tell me I should have my hair just like you
always with that same stupid quiff on the top of your head.
you tell me not to listen to my favorite songs
I should like rap, hip hop and R&B
just like you
You tell me I should like the sort of guys you like.
Guys with perfect looks, perfect hair, and that perfect cheesy smile.

Maybe I don't want to be like you
Maybe I want to get a Bob cut instead of how you say I should cut my hair
Maybe I want to listen to rock music
Maybe I want a guy who there's more to than perfect looks, perfect hair and a perfect smile, perhaps I want a guy with personality who I can love, not just somebody to make you drool.

I am who I am
I am not like you, I am different
I don't wear my skirts as short and as tight as I can, I wear my skirts how I want.
I like wearing thick eyeliner, I don't want to wear fake lashes and gold Shiny eyelids
I don't want to wear suede boot with my jeans tucked in, I like my converse boots without my jeans tucked in.
I don't care if you want to walk around looking how you think I should look
Just don't make me do the same thing
because no matter how hard you try I will never be like you
and you will never be like me
I'm different

Love the description in this poem. Powerful piece, roaring with the freedom to choose who we are, and to keep true to that. Great poem, never change who you are. Peace.
