My Acorn Tree

by RainbowSlider   Nov 11, 2006

Mightily you stand in my yard so free and tall.
I can't get my arms all the way around you at all.
You're a giant in my sky; The birds nest on you.
You feed the squirrels; I have been such a fool.

I thought you were rigid but your limbs bend.
Animals come to you; You are a good friend.
I wanted to cut you down; You blocked my view.
A wonder to me in sight; I have been such a fool.

Your leaves move in the wind; I am impressed.
You are greater than me and hold my interest.
A harvest you give; Acorns everywhere, too.
A mother and father; I have been such a fool.

You seem so hard but I know that you give.
Your bark is so rough and, yet, you still live.
The ground holds your roots; You are true.
Rocks you part gently; I have been such a fool.

You are a marvel to behold and I am blessed.
Nature loves you and I am just a lost guest.
I honor you great tree; I see you in the blue.
Your shade is a joy; I have been such a fool.
