Fighting Back

by buffduff   Nov 12, 2006

Laying in her hospital bed,
She could hear the machines,
Beeping every now and then,
Letting the world know she was alive.

Barely able to remember that night,
It all seemed like a bad dream now,
But one thing she would never forget,
Is the evil in the eyes of the man she loved.

This wasn't the first time it happened,
She lost count long ago,
So many times he had hurt her,
Yet she carried on loving him.

Maybe one day he'll stop,
It's all my fault anyway,
I made him get angry,
Any man would react the same.

These thoughts laid heavy on her mind,
Remembering all the excuses she made,
Making the monster into a saint,
Now the fog had cleared.

No longer would she lie for him,
Or cover up his dirty mistakes,
Fianlly it had all ended,
And it would never start again.

She would get strong at last,
Start her life anew,
Because she was free,
He hadn't won.
