Fish and Chips

by John   Nov 12, 2006

There was a young man who loved food
Especially fish and chips
And even bacon and tomatoes
Made him lick his lips

But those french fries with haddock large
And bread and butter too
Were twice as good as cheese on toast
And mother's Irish stew.

Pizzas, sausage, beans on toast
He loved them all with peas
But the smell of frying haddock
Made him tremble at the knees

He couldn't pass a chippy
Without staring with round eyes
At the wrapping of the battered cods
And the crispy crunchy fries

He vowed to go to Whitby
And go fishing for the cod
I'll bring them home for England
I will I will by God !
