I'm So Sorry Baby Bear

by Gem   Nov 12, 2006

They placed you in my arms.
I was too scared to breathe,
I didn't want to disturb you.
I couldn't have wished for
Something so perfect.

The most beautiful thing
To ever grace this earth
And it was mine.
You were my angel with no wings.

You slept there in your fishbowl
With tubes up your nose.
They pricked with their pins
And made you cry your first tears.

I held you till the end, my sweet.
They took all your tubes away
And let you live on your own for a while,
One tiny breath after another.
I was so proud of you my little soldier.
You wanted to show them all that
You could live, that you could fight,
But you became weary of this effort
And slowly slipped away.

You will sleep there in my heart forever.

You looked so small.
I promised I would protect you.
But Mummy didn't know.
I'm so sorry baby bear.
I'm so sorry I let you down.
