He promised her protection
From all of her worst fears
He promised her his shoulder
For her to cry her tears

He promised her the knowlege
To which he possessed
he promised her he'd listen
To anything she'd confess

He promised her the truth
And said he'd never lie
He promised her he'd be there
And never say goodbye

He promised her the answers
To any question that she had
He promised he would trust her
Even when times were bad

He promised her he'd belive her
If any lie was said
He promised any feelings he had
Would be for her instead

He promised when he smiled at her
His feelings would shine through
He promised any pain she felt
He would feel it too

He promised if tomorrow never came
His love would still go on
he promised her he loved her
And she'd never be alone

He promised her everything
She knew was just a lie
She knew he'd break these promises
And she knew that she would cry

But the promises sounded so good
And believe him she couldn't help,
She knew she would break down
And he'd take what she had left

But he promised that he loved her
And when he'd look into her eyes
She felt foolish for doubting him
Because she saw no lies

So she promised that she'd love him
She promised that she'd care
She promised for all the hard times
They would equally share

They made a promise together
Held together by their hearts
A promise made forever
Can never be torn apart
