Heaven's Not Too Far Away

by Ashley Van Eperen   Nov 13, 2006

If tomorrow starts with out me,
And my heart no longer beats
I'll ask the angels to send a letter,
and this is what it will read:

So sorry I can't be there,
The angels took me home
They came to earth to get me,
So please just let me go.
Don't think I'm gone forever,
I'm always in your heart,
And When you read this letter,
Know that heavens not to far.
For the angels sent this quickly,
The minute I was done,
God gave me the chance to say "Goodbye."
To every one I love.

I know you feel like crying,
Because death still brings us pain,
But believe me when I write to you,
That heavens a better place.
There really is no saddness,
I really never cry,
And here,
Every one is beautiful,
And precious is Gods eyes.

He reminded me to tell
To never lose faith,
Because even if I'm not there
To lean on,
He'll wipe your tears away.

Forget that I am gone,
And didn't get to say
That even if my hearts not beating,
I will always love you the same.

So when you look up to the stars,
Look forward to the day,
When the angels come to get you
And never feel afraid.
Always know inside your heart,
That Heavens not to far away.

I am dedicating this to a late family friend Dennis, who died August 2008. I know i wrote this long before he died, but i have never had someone close to me die before, and he has been a part of my life ever since i was born. I dont know what happens after death, and honestly, i dont know if i believe in the whole god thing or not... so i hope he is somewhere out there... caring for my family the same way he did when he was alive. We will always love you Dennis. RIP
