In The Dark

by elvenfire   Nov 14, 2006

The dark can't stay too long
I know if I wait patiently enough
Soon it will be chased away by dawn
Or is this just my foolish hope
Another way to last one more day
My ragged soul still trying to cope

Red is the color of my blood
Stark against the sheets
A drop or two, nothing more
Will it satisfy the beast
Inside me clamoring for the light
For a moment of weakness
It may overcome me tonight

The colors fade and blur sometimes
My tired eyes stare at them
My fingers caress them lovingly
My soul does comprehend

Red is the color of my blood
My veins feed this rhyme
I write my life in random letters
Getting weaker every line
And soon my soul shall see the night
I know it will, I know it must
And I will spend eternity
In the dark, at peace at last.

I like this poem of yours, it is worded good and I like how you structured it and all, it is very good. One thing though, at the beginning you were saying the dark wont stay long
"Or is this just my foolish hope" then at the end ur like,
"In the dark, at peace at last."
peace at last??? but you wanted it to go away.....so yeah, just a little confusingly written cause u changed ur mind...
    Nice work
