Had he not have been so foolish
Had he not of walked away
Had she held him a little tighter
He might not have went astray

Had he not have been so selfish
He might have seen how she felt
Had he not have been so pitiful
And felt sorry for himself

Had he not have been so blind
To the love she expressed
Had he not have been so illiterate
His love he would confess

Had he not have been so deaf
He might have heard her say
Had he not have been so stupid
He wouldn't have walked away

Had he have been a little smarter
He would have realized
That nothing but love looke back at him
When he looked into her eyes
