A Day Without Heros {Rondeau}

by xTheEcstasyOfSuicidex   Nov 15, 2006

Seeking hearts filled with woes,
In the few days without heros.
A new tale is hereby spun,
When blackest evil hereby won
And good and evil make foe.

Masquerading to fight with a show,
Dance faster, don't let go;
Let good realize they are done,
Evil has triumphed.

When the setting sun begins to glow,
Good surrenders for they soon know,
Evil will smile to the leaving sun,
Knowing deep down they have won.
Upon the nights the air will glow
Evily has triuphed.

A Rondeau is a French form, 15 lines long, consisting of three stanzas: a quintet, a quatrain, and a
sestet with a rhyme scheme as follows: aabba aabR aabbaR. Lines 9 and 15 are short - a
refrain (R) consisting of a phrase taken from line one. The other lines are longer (but all of the
same metrical length).

    Wow I really liked this poem. It really makes you think. When people think of heros they think of like white knights on beautiful steeds riding in to save the day, when in actuality they are just normal people like you and me who step in to do the right thing when everyone else has turned their backs. And these are the people that dont usually get the credit that they deserve. People should always remember to thank them because without them the world would be a much darker place for us all. Wonderful job on this poem, I liked the twist to it. I loved the ending the last line was very stunning and powerful. Nice job and beautiful work keeping it true to the structure.

    This is really great! The only problem I saw was your last line you spelt triumphed wrong* But other than that I loved it! :) I usually choose which lines or stanza I like best. But this is ... Perfect! You really go for the challenge, I might try this style.
