I Try Not To

As hard as I try not to, I cant help but wonder,

Did you look at her the same way you look at me, with your blue eyes filled with enough love to fill all of earth's oceans? Do you think about the way she use to feel when your hand is in mine or the way she kissed when your lips touch my own? Does her voice ever wake your brain when you talk to me on the phone? When you touched her skin did she ever want to faint because knowing she was yours was too hard for her to believe? Does her face ever cross your mind when you are thinking of me?

Did you take her breath away every time you said I love you? Did her heart skip a beat every time you whispered her name? You tell me I am beautiful and I am like no other you have ever known, but I wonder if her lips have smiled because her ears have heard the same. When you squeeze my side do you imagine the feel of her skin beneath your fingers and then pull away when you realize it is me instead? The words you write to me are wonderful, but are they words that her eyes have already read?

Did every minute spent with her seem like only a second in time? Did you feel the connection with her that I have felt for no one else but you? Did she realize that you were an angel, that you were far better than anyone she knew? Did her hands trace the curves of your body, sending chills to your core? Did you have little tickle fights that left you breathless but wanting more?

Did you fall asleep at night so you could meet her in your dreams? Did your gentle lips tease her neck and nibble on her ears? When you wrapped your arms around her did you chase away all her fears? Did you want tomorrow to come faster so you could see her beautiful face? When sitting together did she scoot in closer next to you, leaving no extra space?

Do I do little things that remind you of her without even knowing? Did she make you happy? Did her jokes make you grin? Did she get along with your friends and not make you pick between her or them? When you were alone with her was it hard to stay in control, hard to keep your hands to yourself? Did thoughts of her drive you crazy because you could think of nothing else?

Did seeing her in the hallway brighten up your day? Did you guys joke about stupid things like having a closet of your own or talk about the future, never seeing an end to the feelings that you shared? Did she have special ways of showing you that she truly cared? Did she see the care you gave to her along with all your love? Did she know you would be there for her when push came to shove?

Did she have any idea what she was letting slip through her fingers? Do you think she will ever realize how much of an amazing person you are? Could she not see that to you she was a brightly shining star? Obviously not because she ignored you until you finally had to part, and she might still think she loves you, but baby I love you with all my heart.

Did you know that I love it when your kisses caress my skin? I love it when you run your fingers through my hair and I know no matter how many times I make mistakes you will always be there. I will love you until the end of time, forever and a day. I mended your broken heart and now I am here to stay.
