Come Soilder

by Zeke   Nov 16, 2006

The blood of many lies here in these hills.
The tears of children in this magical land,
Lay waste to men, creations of God's hand.
The repetitive beating of a cast iron drum,

Rum-tom-tom

The bloody souls, of blistered feet,
The horrible holes, in the flesh they eat.
Come solider, come solider, and play us song.
Come solider, come solider, before we've all gone.
Beat the rhythm for which we all yearn.
Teach us a song, we'll hear, we'll learn.
Play on your drum of forgotten years,
Beat out the beats heard by wiser ears.

Rum-tom-tom

March forward upon the most ennobled of quests,
Pay heed to only the tags on your chest.
Quell the cries that put evil souls to rest,
Make a new world, one for the best.
While all the while,
With a stern smile beating your cast iron drum.

Rum-tom-tom

Wonderful job. Great choice of words, nice sense of darkness and images.
