Basketball

We've known each other for as long as I can remember,
And I believe it was love at first sight.
From one hundred degree weather, to the snow of December,
My body suppresses the fight.
On that poor gloomy day, I remember so well,
I went down so hard on the floor.
I whaled in pain as I looked at my knee,
I knew this would close the door.
How could I let go of this precious thing,
That is my one and only love?
As I lay on the stretch, the only thing I could do,
Was pray to my lord above.
If you hear me sweet Jesus, and I know you can,
Please don't take my love away.
Because everything I've done, up to this point in my life,
Was done so that I could play.
All the running and jumping, dribbling and shooting,
Was done by hard work that was true.
But the real reason that it was truly being done,
Was to enhance the gift given by you.
If I've learned anything in this lifetime,
Without a doubt in my mind it would be;
That all you need to conquer any of your trials,
Is faith the size of a mustard seed.
With this faith I posses, and this love in my heart,
There's no way I'll be able to let go.
Because knowing that we will always be apart,
Brings down everything my life has to show.
So if all else fails and she's taken away,
What I'll do with my life I'm not sure.
It hurts me so much to think this way,
But I know they won't find a cure.
How bout college, Med. School , Fashion Design,
Or maybe I can go into hair?
But knowing I won't have her by my side,
For none of these things I could care.
I love you sweet heart, we were meant to be,
And I'm sorry I took that fall.
As I rest in peace, remember that you are always in me;
My dear, sweet, basketball
