Night

by PS   Nov 16, 2006

Night, where do you reside?
In the skies, on this earth?
Swirling darkness around bare trees
Giving impressions of mystery and magic
Creating supernatural out of nothingness
Silver moons and stars shine down
Adding that dust that the fairies carry
Mixing the ordinary with uncommon.
Stars hiding in hard to reach places
Dance to create characters of
Ancient stories giving guidance
To those who inquire after it.
Summer warmth mixed with dark
Giving a sky to sit under and dream
Stare into the perpetual blackness
Finding answers to questions unanswered
Awake and ready to race the world,
You caress and invigorate
You are close, all around
Yet far away in the sky
Looking down and watching the earth
What do you gaze upon?
Does it please you to guard it?
Or creep close and touch it?
Night, where do you stay
So I can find you in our play
And dance and sing in your midst.
Live life before the dawn of day.
