The Pedestal

The Pedestal

Standing alone looking below,
so far down,
so far to go.

what if I tremble, or my limbs shake,
so far down,
so far to go.

and should the earth begin to quake,
so far down,
so far to go.

and this pedestal begin to break?
so... so far down,
so... so far to go.

Will my wings fail me, fluttering too slow?
so far down,
so far to go.

If I fall will they understand?
so far down,
so far to go.

Will one stand bravely taking my hand?
so far down
so far to go.

Will they walk away shaking their head,
so far down,
so far to go.

mumbling words of pity istead?
so very far down,
so damned far to go.

Standing alone looking above,
so far up,
so far to go.

crumpled wings, torn pride in tow.
so very far up,
so damned far to go......

I love the repitition of this piece-it re-enforces the other lines. The flow is great and the meaning is wonderfully stated.

Wow. That was really good. I loved the pedestal imagery and the repetition was a nice touch. I loved the way you changed perspective halfway through. I was waiting for the fall lol.
