It was you.

by BlueDreams   Nov 18, 2006

It was you...'Twas always you
Who shaped my vision splendid
And took my very breath away
By beauty... never ended.

If Helena launched a thousand ships
And ruled a dynasty
Then a thousand times I've kissed your lips
And tasted ecstasy.

It was you...'Twas always you
With your love so pure...and yet
'Twas a love not meant to last
Our sun at last had set.

I lived awhile and loved awhile
In a world that gave me you
My loss shall not diminish
The love that once we knew.

I can't believe I hadn't commented on this before (I know I read it before). This is so well written, I like the Greek metaphor, and the rhyme scheme is flawless and flows perfectly, but it is the pure emotion of love and loss that truly touches the heart. Excellent piece!
