I Will Be Loved

by Daenerys Stormborn   Nov 18, 2006

Paint my nails before I leave the open door
I pray that I will not see you anymore
Your sad eyes have left a mark on my skin
You think this depression has made you win
But I still stand steady on this rocking ship
With a broken child balanced on one hip
I look off into the distance, across the water
Dream of my future golden haired daughter
The sun rises and the rain clouds split apart
Warm rays help heal my wounded heart
For some day, I know,
I will be loved

You failed at ripping my life to pieces
But I am still moving as this aching ceases
I once knew a man in the years of time
Who spoke honest words to soothe my mind
When the clock struck, I rose and I escaped
Following the path of a hero once caped
Every time tears roll down my pastel cheeks
I observe in playback the many long weeks
And the truth helps turn the steering wheel
So these decks I stand on no longer weal
For some day, I know,
I will be loved

The storm has begun and the sky is gray
I feel there is no reason that I should stay
I dream of a place where the sun is endless
Where love resides within a heart-shaped kiss
Where each broken heart can rest and revive
And those who seek death can go to survive
The memories of love that turned bitterly cold
Elapsed from our minds to be never retold
Cast overboard to rest on the ocean floor
Pain put to ease and the heart never sore
For some day, I know,
I will be loved
