My Safe Place

by *Charisma*   Nov 20, 2006

Just a moment, just a day,
When I don't think of you.
Just a minute, just an hour,
With something else to do.

Distract my mind from thoughts,
That pervade my privacy.
I'd take them out of my head,
But they come back to me.

I try to focus on something else,
But in the end I only fail.
I would rather think of you,
Then let my mind just take sail.

Because it would sail the ocean blue,
Then land within your docks.
Knowing it's all safer there,
Than in the sea or on the rocks.

For a heart knows where it is safest
And stays within that place.
Mine has found you and kept it close.
You are my protected resting space.
