Before You

by fink   Nov 21, 2006

My days are dark and grey
Like walking through a mist
A dark hall covered by shadows
No windows to let in light
Hundreds of doors all locked
Climbing an endless staircase
No sign of hope
Not allowed to turn back
Only having the fear
Of having missed something
Almost to the point of giving up
Having too much of never enough
Too many stairs and locked doors
Too many secrets kept
Too many mistakes made
Always alone
Reaching out for warmth
And only finding myself
No point in anything
When you have no one
But all this was
The days before you
There was finally a last step
You were there
And everything changed
The dark was bright
The grey was colorful
Your smile brightened everything
Your eyes brought out the color
Lost now not in dark halls with endless stairs
But now lost in your eyes
In your eyes I see forever
At the sound of your voice
All fears and mistakes vanished
Hope and happiness returned
You offered your hand
And pulled me off the floor
And out of the dark
The warmth I had reached out for
Was in your touch
Suddenly life meant so much
The days before you were
The last days that I ever lived alone
For now you're always here in my heart
There was one more door
You led me through it
Now I can never go back to
The days before you
It all seems like a dream
But every time I wake
You're still here
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
And find out that it's all still real
You changed my life for the better
Now I will never have to go back to
The days before you
