Foolishly
I had given you my heart
Hoping
That you would cherish it
Praying
You'd be careful

Foolishly
I put my faith in you
Hoping
I could be your angel
Praying
You would learn to fly

Foolishly
I did not listen to my gut
Hoping
My heart was lying
Praying
You did love me

Foolishly
I went against my gut
Hoping
That I was following my heart
Praying
That it wouldn't be broken

Foolishly
I walked into a trap
Hoping
That evil didn't reside in you
Praying
You wouldn't take advantage

Foolishly
I was wrong
Hoping
That your love will love you back
Praying
Again that my love will love me

    Its a really good poem. But maybe you should try to use other words... I would get "gut" out of there. It almost sounds like when using "gut" the feelings arent as extreme.
