A Race With the Clouds

by Thoughtless Consideration   Nov 21, 2006

We sailed on a magic carpet for a while,
That night I'll never forget,
I know I'll always remember your smile.
We chased the clouds,
We conversed with the stars.
We landed smoothly by the apple tree,
Standing still there,
As quite and welcoming as can be.
I leaned against it's rough trunk,
While you shook apples from the leaves.
The red spheres landed with gentle little thuds.
The icy air tickled my cheeks,
Your laugh made me nervous,
Turned my skin pink.
The wind picked up an apple,
In her long fingers so white.
She toyed with it, spinning it in the air.
Oh, love, that was some sight.
The moon smiled down on both of us,
Making my heart beat fast, making my breath slow much.
The black air was fresh with rain,
Rain that fell down from the heavens,
And helped me wash away my pain.
As the first of the last drops fell from the sky,
Of course I had to wake up from my dream,
And I realized life couldn't be that good.
I realized this with a tiny little sigh.
