Glimpse

by Brittani Ray   Nov 21, 2006

The moon is only
A crack
Through blinds
That shut most
Everything
Out.
"Ignore it, and
Sooner or later it'll
Disappear."
If only it were that simple.
Simple enough to
Shut your eyes,
To turn around,
And watch it vanish.
But no,
Out of sight
Isn't always,
Or indeed mostly,
Out of mind.
The second you get
A glimpse of that moon,
It's face,
You're addicted.
It eats away at you
Like a drug,
Taunting you with it's
Nonchalance,
It's teasing
'Catch me, if you can'
Nature
Until you're ready
To crawl into a hole
Or declare yourself
Clinically insane.
You wait and wait
For daybreak, but
Even when it comes
The moon is still there,
Forever in the back of
Your mind,
Preying
on your insecurities.
Turning your face red
every time you catch
A glimpse of it.
Some peple believe that,
When looking at the moon,
They realize just how connected
They are to someone else.
The moon has never
Made me feel more
Alone.
