A SON OF A CRACKHEAD

by jmelly   Nov 21, 2006

IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, I WILL BE REDUCED TO BEING A SON OF A CRACKHEAD.
IT ONLY HAPPENS EVERY OTHER WEEK, YALL KNOW..PAYDAY.
SHE COMES HOME, DOESNT FEEDS US, AND REALLY HAS NOTHING TO SAY.
IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, I WILL BE REDUCED TO BEING THE SON OF A CRACKHEAD.
I RECALL 2AM WALKS TO THE CRACKHOUSE.
SHE WAS TOO SCARED TO WALK THERE, BY HERSELF.
HER DEALER WAS COOL, HE CAME AROUND ALOT, BUT LOOKED AT ME, AS IF I DIDNT KNOW.
SITTING IN A HOUSE FULL OF FUMES, 3HOURS LATER MOMS COMES OUT, WITH HER BLOW.
IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, I WILL BE REDUCED TO BEING A SON OF A CRACKHEAD.
ONE MORNING I WOKE UP TO A HORRIBLE SMELL OF BURNING GLASS.
BUT AS I GET CLOSER TOO HER ROOM, I HERE HER SAY, \"MY SON IS COMING, PUT THAT UP REAL FAST\".
SO I KNOCK ON THE DOOR AND PRETEND TO HAVE A BAD DREAM.
I AM THE SON OF A CRACKHEAD, THIS IS NOT A DREAM.
I FALL TO MY KNEES EVERYDAY, HOPING SOMEONE CAN SAFE US.
BUT SHE EVEN STOLE X-MAS, THERE IS NO TRUST.
BEING A SON OF A CRACKHEAD, I THOUGHT WOULD FADE AWAY.
UNTIL SHE OVERDOSED AND PASTED AWAY.
SHE NEVER TOLD ME WHY SHE LEFT US, HERE ALONE
I NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO SAY GOODBYE, AND NOW SHE\'S GONE.

RIP ELNORA.....I WILL ALWAYS BE A SON OF A CRACKHEAD

That was an awesome write. I sympathize your pain. The family of addicts experience more pain than I believe the addict ever would. It will be a lifetime of healing and I wish you the best.
As for any constructive critiscism for your poem.... I would simply suggest using the spell check. Sometimes mis-spelled words can distract from the point of the write. There were only a few words that I found....safe and pasted which should have been save and passed. I believe you have alot of talent and I look forward to reading more from you.
